The Maryland/Israel Development Center is a non-profit organization. Our mission since our founding in 1992 is to create jobs and foster bilateral trade and investment. We are proud to have added to employment and economic growth in Maryland. There are over 40 Israeli companies in Maryland representing industries such as: Artificial Intelligence, Medical Devices, Agriculture, FinTech, Transportation, Cybersecurity, BioPharma and Defense.
The MIDC works with the Israeli companies who contribute millions of dollars annually to the Maryland economy and brings hundreds of top-level jobs to our state as well as cutting technologies. Israel is referred to as the Start Up Nation with extraordinary inventions that have improved lives. Maryland is now home to several Israeli Artificial Intelligence companies that are driving advancements that impact everything from healthcare diagnostics to roadway intelligence. Copaxone is an MS drug developed in Maryland and this is just one example of the many Israeli medical companies that are making significant contributions to medical advancements, particularly in the areas of medical devices, digital health, and biotechnology.
As we begin our 34th year, the MIDC, continues to have a solid and strong relationship with our “founding partners,” namely The Associated: Jewish Federation of Baltimore, Maryland’s Department of Commerce and the Commercial Mission of the Embassy of Israel, and we are thankful for the continued support these partners provide. We are also thankful for the long-standing support of Maryland Governors who have traveled to Israel and steadfastly supported the mission of the MIDC. The MIDC is grateful to its Board Members, Strategic Partners and membership as well as the many Counties, Hospitals, and Universities in Maryland that welcome Israeli technology and business.
With shared strengths in life sciences, cybersecurity and other high-tech industries, both Maryland and Israel have thrived through increased mutual international trade and business opportunities. Our job is to ensure that it continues.
