2025 was an excellent year for the MIDC. We strengthened our alliances with Frederick, Harford, Howard, Prince George’s, Baltimore City, Baltimore and Montgomery Counties. We have assisted Israeli companies with workforce development through the University of Maryland, the Maryland Dept. of Labor, Maryland counties and Jewish Community Services, a sister agency of The Associated: Jewish Federation of Baltimore. In addition, Maryland has become the go-to state for Israeli Innovation.
The second half of the year was remarkable for the Maryland/Israel Development Center:
- We met with over 50 Israeli companies who want to collaborate with Maryland.
- Eight new companies were added to our list of Israeli companies with offices in Maryland.
- Five Israeli companies are in the process of moving to Maryland, adding to the 45 Israeli companies that already have offices in Maryland.
- We met with dozens of Maryland companies that would like to work with Israeli companies to increase sales and innovation.
- We assisted with BIRD (Binational Industrial Research and Development) Foundation grants. BIRD provides both matchmaking support between U.S. and Israeli companies, as well as funding covering up to 50 percent of project development costs, up to $1.5M per project.
- One of our Israeli companies in Maryland received a BIRD Foundation Grant in the field of mental health.
- We held successful Software/Cyber and Life Science committee meetings, helping Israeli companies in the Digital Health, FinTech, and Cyber industries.
- We are actively working with our partners at the Maryland Dept. of Commerce’s Global Gateway Soft Landing Program for Foreign Companies to attract Israeli businesses to Maryland.
