The impact of the MIDC can be measured in many ways. Through our matchmaking and networking, our impact is felt in the connections that are made with Israeli companies and entities and Maryland companies and entities. There are also hard economic numbers that demonstrate our impact in Maryland. As you will read throughout this newsletter, these impacts are enormous and are essential to our mission to promote bi-lateral trade and economic development.
At the close of another successful year at the MIDC, I am often thinking of our impact. Much of our impact is not measurable – the networks we create, the business communities we help to bolster and the people-to-people connections that we help to make. I am proud of the work we have accomplished to promote Israel’s unique innovation and entrepreneurial spirit in Maryland and proud of the ways in which we have been able to promote Maryland to Israelis through all of its offerings.
There are, of course, many ways in which we can demonstrate our measurable impact. You will read in our business development report some of the metrics we use to measure success. One of our foreign direct investment numbers (45 Israeli companies in Maryland) is almost at an all-time high for our organization, despite the geopolitical and other challenges that we and Israelis face. There is also the direct impact of Israeli companies in Maryland on the state’s economy. In early 2026, we will be releasing these official numbers that will demonstrate the immense economic impact and return on investment of the MIDC.
We like to say that Maryland is the best place for Israeli companies to do business and that continues to be proven true. And our job is to demonstrate to Maryland the best of what Israel has to offer in terms of life-saving technology, medical devices and other innovations that make the world a better place.
