Maryland/Israel Development Center (“MIDC”) owns, operates and/or controls a global network of websites and web pages (collectively, the “Sites”). This Privacy Statement, as modified from time to time, applies solely to information collected through the Sites. The Sites are provided to visitors and users of the Sites (collectively, “you”) subject to the terms set forth in, and your use constitutes acceptance of, this Privacy Statement and any other Terms of Use governing the Sites.
Anyone may visit MIDC’s Sites without revealing personally identifiable information to MIDC. However anyone desiring to become an MIDC member must complete the membership application accessible through the “MIDC Membership” tab. MIDC values its relationship with visitors and members and uses commercially available technology to safeguard any personal information collected through the Sites. Nevertheless, the internet is an open medium and no data transmission through the internet is completely secure. Please do not email credit card or other sensitive information to MIDC. You transmit information at your own risk. MIDC does not guaranty or warranty the security of information you transmit.
Information Collected: Information collected about visitors to the Sites who do not apply for MIDC membership generally is anonymous and not personally identifiable unless you identify yourself in some manner. MIDC, its business partners and other companies providing services to or on behalf of MIDC (such as, for example, companies assisting with the operation or features of the Sites, MIDC events, membership, advertising and promotional campaigns, surveys, contests and the like) may use various technologies (such as cookies, web beacons, pixel tags, click-through URL links) to collect non-personally identifiable information discernable as a result of your visit. This may include, without limitation, your internet protocol address, web pages requested or viewed, date, time and domain type, demographic information and responses to surveys, promotions and advertisements. Information gleaned from your browser is automatically received and recorded on server logs. As technology evolves, information may be gathered through other means as well. You may set your browser either to notify you when you receive a cookie or to refuse to accept cookies. However, if you do so you may not be able to participate in certain of the Sites’ features.
If you contact MIDC or its service providers, a record of that session or correspondence will be maintained and the information used to provide applicable service and support or otherwise respond to your inquiry. Personally identifiable information is also collected when you subscribe to the MIDC newsletter and/or register for events. In addition, MIDC member applicants must complete a membership application located at the “MIDC Membership” tab on the Sites. The membership application currently requests information about the prospective member organization and designated individuals authorized to interact with the MIDC on behalf of the organization, such as name, address, industry, website URL, email and mailing addresses, telephone numbers and billing information, including any organization description provided by the applicant and credit card information to pay the membership fee.
Information Use/Sharing: MIDC may use information collected for the specific purpose for which the information was provided, i.e., for membership and event registration, to provide the MIDC newsletter, to respond to questions and/or provide requested service and support and for any other legal purpose. If you choose to pay the membership fee online through the Sites, MIDC immediately transmits credit card information to its PCI-compliant third party credit card payment processor which handles the credit card transaction on behalf of MIDC. By submitting the membership application, you authorize MIDC’s third party payment processor to make such inquiries and access and use information provided as necessary to validate your credit card and complete the transaction and store the information in compliance with its privacy policies. MIDC does not host or store credit card information.
All information collected by MIDC through the Sites will be processed and maintained in the United States on servers and/or other network systems operated by or for MIDC’s benefit in the United States. If you access the Sites and/or reside outside of the United States, your information will be stored, transmitted and shared in accordance with U.S. data privacy laws which may not be equivalent to those in effect in your country of residence.
If MIDC is acquired by another company or if it were to cease operations, your information may be disclosed/transferred to the surviving or acquiring company and will then be subject to that organization’s privacy policy which may be different from that of MIDC. MIDC may disclose or access your personal or account information if it reasonably believes in good faith that disclosure is requested by law enforcement or otherwise required by law, necessary to identify or contact you or bring legal action to enforce any legal rights, including against you or a third party, for nonpayment, violation of any agreement, and to prevent injury to or interference with MIDC’s rights or property, the rights or property of users of other Sites or anyone else that could be harmed by such activities..
