The MIDC is pleased to welcome Yoav Saidel, Minister of Economic and Trade Affairs at the Israeli Embassy in Washington DC. Yoav is responsible for trade relations with the US and is the main point of contact for the American government on trade issues, agreements and trade policy and while helping promote trade between Israel and several states in the East Coast region. Yoav held several positions in the Israeli Ministry of Economy and Industry among them are Desk Officer in the Asia Pacific Department, Assistant to the Deputy Director of the Foreign Trade Administration as well as the Economic Attaché in Singapore. Before leaving for the mission in Washington, Yoav served as the Head of the International Organizations Department in the Ministry of Economy and Industry. In the past, Yoav worked as an economist at the Ministry of Finance. Yoav holds a bachelor’s degree (with honors) in PEP – philosophy, economics and political science, and a master’s degree in economics and public policy, both from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
“In my posting here in DC, I intend to enhance the economic and trade relationship between Israel and the US even further than the great existing relationship we currently have. I hope to do this by initiating and promoting new technological collaborations between Israeli and American companies and between our governments and also by reducing trade barriers between our countries. I also come open minded to the position and I am happy to discuss innovative ideas to boost business making between the countries with local partners.” said Yoav Saidel.
